What is Argument from Consequences?
Ignoring a truth if the consequence of its validity means a negative outcome.
Business Application
Ignoring the truth impedes growth.
It is better to get in front of progress and take it head on so you can control its path. Maintaining status quo is only an effective strategy for shorter durations. Eventually, your company, policies, or methods will become less effective.
Example
“If the staff started recognizing our logical fallacies they will be better professionals but they might call us out when we’re wrong!”
Why This is a Fallacy
Management might feel inclined to hold back certain professional developments in order to maintain status quo. In this case they fear making public mistakes or increasing confrontation .
